Well it started out well enough...got up and cleaned on the house because we were having company come over that evening...
Got ready for our monthly Betta meeting (this time at a member's house so it would be quite)....now let me back up...
Our chapter has a lot of new members. I have been to a Convention but I was learning to run the program (I found out that as Treasurer it is my responsibility to do this...ok...not a problem). Well we put on our very first show.....OH WAIT...is was not our first show even though NONE of the members had ever put a show on....figure that one out...please...and let me know...0_0!!!
I at least got the oppertunity to show the person that was receiving the fish KINDA how the program went. I messed up there...I accept that responsibility!!! I did not remember all that the program did and did not remember about sorting the catagories...MY FAULT!!! Got that one figured out...
Ok...issues we had...we were just disorginized...because we did not have a "run thru" meeting no one knew what to expect and we just played it by ear...we did GREAT...I was head Chair Person so I will say that MY TEAM is awesome!!!
When did issues start?...when we went to bag fish...I started carding the Breeders so my baggers would know where to start and stop...well my fault...I forgot that a log of each breeder was to be printed so we would know what fish were sold and what fish would go back...that did not become an issue until later. I was told NOT to card breeders because it was not necessary. Well we had MAJOR issues now...4 fish were boxed incorrectly. 2 got sent to the same WRONG breeder...and the other 2 were single send to the wrong breeder. One of them I TOLD (can't name names...) was not the right female but was told..."she will be"...ummmm THAT breeder was pissed that "they" got the wrong fish...I wanted to NOT send that fish and figure it out...
OK...fast forward to Sat. Well after being kept in the dark for 2 weeks...I find out that our club is under probation and under the terms of the probation that I am to be removed as Treasurer and that another member is to be appointed. I asked if I was being blamed for the mishaps of the show and all I was told was that "IT" was taken care of...........Well I was hurt...pissed...you name it!!! I called the IBC President and the Top Show Judge person to find out what the Hell was going on...well come to find out IBC had NOTING to do with this...no probation...no "terms" of probation...nothing...my name was not even mentioned!!! I just pissed "our" president off.

William/Mr. Attitude's line is all but gone. I have lost all but one fish (I gave him away several months ago). The entire line Dropsyed so I can only assume that it was genetic. I have 2 other unrelated males that got the same water change schedule and same feeding schedule/food and they are happy and healthy.
Thanks to a GREAT couple of friends!!!! I have a new breeding pair of Black Copper Lace HM. They are not with me at the moment but will be soon!!! I hope to be able to have fish to show this year and some to send to the 2010 IBC Convention. If I get back into breeding then it will only be 1 or 2 Black Copper Lace spawns a year...I WILL not get overwhelmed again.
I will post pictures of the new kids as soon as I get them home.
Not to put to much personal information on the net but I have had a lot of family issues that started around the end of September or first of October 2008 and I did not find out until December 14th. My world came crashing down around me. I was in a state of depression! I could not care for my many Betta and ended up loosing about 6 of them due to this...time to downsize and try and save the rest!
I have quit breeding Betta for now due to working on keeping my marriage together. I have giving all my breeding equipment and most of my breeders to a friend of mine so that if I ever get back into breeding...I don't have to spend 100s of $$ to get set back up. If I never get back into it...then I am a VERY good friend...LOL.
During this time all my live cultures crashed except my grindals. I don't know if I will get new cultures of Walter or Micro Worms because I'd only be culturing them to sell...nor do I think I will get Vinegar Eels for the same reason. If I do start breeding then I will start culturing them again.
Other news: Mr. Attitude died about a week ago. I brought him to work and someone turned the AC on (this was Thursday after I left and I was off work on Friday) and forgot to turn the heater back on and it was below freezing all weekend. I came in on Monday and it was like 40*F in the office. MA was dead and I had 2 others in unheated (I keep the office 78*F) tanks also that were not looking good. They are fine now but it was touch and go that entire week. I now have a note on the AC/Heater to remind them to set the temp on 78* for the fish's sake.
With the death of William, I did not think I would be excited about another fish...BUT I AM!!! William's son, Mr. Attitude, is a father! William's Grandfish hatched Sunday, July 13, 2008. I am pretty sure that I have 100+ babies in there. I hope to find one that looks like Grandpa.
I lost my Betta William Tuesday afternoon. He was Mr. Attitude's father. I was so upset that I could not post about it here.
William was a Black Copper HM male Betta. He was my first Betta and my first Copper. He was the one that started my love for HM Copper Betta.
He had such a great personality! His tank was the center piece on our dining room table. When we would sit down to eat...he would come over just to watch us.
He was trained to follow my finger to find food. This made it easy to change his water because he would follow my finger into a cup and I'd just lift him out of the water. My friend Dusty was amazed the first time she saw him do this.
This fish will be greatly missed by me and those who knew him.
RIP my William.

Mr. Attitude went to the IBC Betta Show (Houston International Betta Show) in Houston. he placed 3rd in a class of around 14 fish! I am so proud of him!!!
I was going to send him to FL for the Convention there but I will be out of town the day he would arrive back in the mail. I am not going to chance it so I will wait until next yr and send some of HIS kids!

I got a new spawn from my Thailand imports (see Spawning Pair)!...Finally! Not sure how many babies there are but I counted 22 yesterday. I am hoping for some great ones to show either in the Fall or next yr!
The Whites are doing great. Still only have the 9 jarred and so far I think 3 are boys...the others I still am not sure...maybe 3 girls and the other 3 are still not sure.
Well this is all the time I have to post.

I jarred 9 babies the other day! I saw the first flare yesterday! It was sooo cute! Now for the tedious part!!! The daily WC for the 9 babies put the weekly WC for all the adults that are in the bigger tanks! OMG what have I gotten myself into LOL!!!! I think I may have been a fish in another lifetime! I don't mind doing the WC at all!

Went to Petland (LFS) and picked up some food and other items for the Betta. I met a nice couple with 2 children that had mixed experience with Betta. I offered them advice and they really seemed to appreciate it. I gave them my site and I hope they come and look. You know who you are...good luck with your Bettas in the future!
